Something Old Something New presents new acquisitions and selected historical works from the Devonport Regional Gallery’s permanent collection.
This exhibition embraces the intersection between the contemporary and historical to form a fresh dialogue between pieces.
After several decades of growth and change, Devonport Regional Gallery’s Art Collection Policy was developed to ensure a collection that is cohesive, focused and significant within Tasmania.
Subsequently, the Collection has become a unique, vibrant and accumulative record of professional artistic activity within Tasmania.
The collection can be divided into the following categories: works on paper, paintings, photographs, digital media, ceramics, glass, sculptures, The Moon, Kathleen Cocker and Owen Lade Collections, and the Robinson collection of historical photographic negatives.
Something Old Something New represents our collection in a new context while celebrating the rich cultural landscape of Tasmanian visual art that the gallery continues to accrue.
