Attempted Portraits
Works from the Robinson Collection complimented by loaned works by Tasmanian artists as curated by Ellina Evans, Devonport Regional Gallery Curator
3 September – 12 November 2022
Upper Gallery
Attempted Portraits is an exhibition of portrait photography from the historical Robinson Collection of Photographic Negatives and three contemporary Tasmanian artists, Lisa Garland, Ilona Schneider, and Patrick Hall, curated by Ellina Evans. The exhibition will explore the layers of meaning and intent in a photographic portrait- the messages conveyed by the subject, the layer of artistic intent added by the photographer, and ultimately the meaning perceived by the viewer, whose viewing is shaped by their own experiences.
