Calling young artists!

As part of tidal.27 festival Presented by One Agency Collins Real Estate, we are inviting young artists aged 16–21 to respond creatively to the theme:

The Rivers and Waterways are Talking.

We are looking for young creatives interested in:

• Creating one original 2D artwork responding to the theme.

Selected artworks will be displayed in local shopfronts throughout Rooke Street Mall, the Devonport Regional Library, a local cafe and in the windows of the Devonport Regional Gallery (Rooke Street) bringing young artists’ voices and perspectives into the wider community.

This is an opportunity to contribute your creative voice to tidal.27, with artworks exhibited leading up to and during the festival.

We welcome artists working across a range of creative practices and encourage you to bring your own ideas, perspectives and interpretation of the theme.

This project is curated by Jaikira Grundy from RANT Arts, in collaboration with Devonport Regional Gallery.

TO ENTER

You must be aged 16–21 years.

To enter, please submit the following via email to artgallery@devonport.tas.gov.au

• Up to 5 images of your proposed artwork or works in progress
• A short written statement outlining your idea and how it responds to the theme
• If under 18 years of age, parental or guardian permission will be required

Important dates

Entries close: 12 October 2026

Exhibition dates: 18–31 January 2027

A few guidelines

• One entry per artist
• Artworks do not need to be completed at the application stage
• Original 2D artwork only
• Maximum artwork size: 1m x 1m including frame
• Works will be displayed in shopfront windows and may be exposed to direct sunlight. While every effort will be made to care for artworks, artists should consider the potential effects of sun exposure and display conditions.
• Selected works must be suitably presented for display on an easel. Works must be self-supporting or framed.
