Clay on Country: Hand-building Ceramic Workshop

Join ceramic artist Bron Field for a hand-building clay workshop exploring texture, landscape, and material connection in response to the exhibition Clay on Country.

Using pinch and coil techniques, participants will create small sculptural or functional ceramic pieces inspired by natural forms, Country, and personal memory. Through carving, imprinting, and mark-making with found and handmade tools, the workshop encourages intuitive making and creative experimentation with surface and form.

Suitable for beginners through to experienced makers, the workshop offers a relaxed and supportive space to explore clay as a tactile and expressive material.

Bron Field is a mixed media artist based in Mparntwe / Alice Springs, specialising in ceramics, community arts practice, and environmental arts.

Bron is currently the Acting Manager at Hermannsburg Potters and was formerly Director of Central Craft, where she played an instrumental role in bringing the 16th Australian Ceramics Triennale to Mparntwe / Alice Springs, including the development of the landmark “Clay on Country” program.

Her practice is grounded in collaboration, cultural exchange, and creating accessible creative opportunities within remote and regional communities. Since moving to Central Australia in 2010, Bron has developed an interdisciplinary practice shaped by Country, ecology, and collective making. Her work seeks to amplify the creative voices, lived experiences, and cultural knowledge of the artists and communities she collaborates with.
