Tickets: Free
Duration: 6 hrs
Join National Gallery artist educators for a full-day professional learning program at Devenport Regional Gallery, Tasmania. The program will include creative learning strategies for engaging with works from the National Collection, with a special focus on Joan Ross’ Touching Other People’s Butterflies, 2013. The program will connect with themes in Joan’s work such as possession and dispossession of land, the staking of ownership and what it means to collect and categorise.
This session is informed by the National Gallery creative learning approach, centering the voice of the artist and including multimodal ways to engage with works of art through creative learning strategies.
This session is open to early learning, primary, secondary, and tertiary educators, and other youth and arts professionals. Educators are also invited to use National Gallery learning resources and online programs to engage before or after the session.
National Gallery artist educators will workshop approaches for engaging with works of art through active creative learning strategies, that support learners to make personal connections to works of art and share stories and ideas through an inquiry-led approach.
A verifiable digital certificate will be delivered with six continuing professional development (CPD) hours to each attendee.
