Further Explorations, the Music of Bill Evans

A Bunch of Smooth Operators’ first Devonport Jazz project is an homage to the music of piano giant Bill Evans. A Bunch of Smooth Operators will feature pianist Mina Yu.

The Bill Evans Trio produced some of the most important jazz trio work with iconic albums such as “Portrait in Jazz”, “Explorations”, “Waltz For Debby”, “Trio 64”, highlighting the delightful work of Evans himself with the likes of Scott La Faro, Paul Motian, Gary Peacock, Larry Bunker, Eddie Gomez and many more.

“Further Explorations” delves deep into Evans’ music, in two parts. The first set “Respect” explores Evans classic period with a strong emphasis on the acoustic element. The second set “To Bill Evans and Beyond” offers a platform for the trio’s boundless creativity providing a more modern twist to the timeless Evans’ songbook.
