About the program

Named in honour of the Little Gallery, the first public art gallery established by Jean Thomas in 1966, the Little Gallery Program is an annual exhibition program at Devonport Regional Gallery supporting early career Tasmanian artists.
The program provides artists with an opportunity to develop and present new body of work in a professional gallery context, encouraging experimentation, audience engagement, and professional growth.
Exhibitions are presented in the Little Gallery upstairs at the Devonport Regional Gallery which is located within the paranaple arts centre. Exhibitions will run for 4 to 6 weeks throughout 2027.
Early career artists may include those in the developing stages of professional practice, building exhibition experience, or presenting new directions in their work.
Artists are invited to present an artist talk and may also propose associated public programming such as workshops or other audience engagement activities.
Successful artists will be paid a total fee of $2,500 in line with current National Association for Visual Arts (NAVA) guidelines.
Gallery staff provide support with exhibition development, installation, and promotion.
