Reunion: Reflections on the Portraits of Owen Lade, Amanda Davies Solo Commission 2025

Reunion reimagines Owen Lade’s poignant portrait paintings, transforming his solitary child portraits into dynamic group compositions. By exploring relationships between sitters and artist, Davies introduces new narratives and deepens connections. Her reinterpretation of Lade’s self-portrait Yours Sincerely provides a contemporary perspective on the nude. The exhibition will integrate existing works from the Regional Devonport Gallery and Luke Wagner’s collection, enriching the dialogue between past and present. Dr. Eliza Burke will contribute a critical essay, offering insights into Davies’ response to Lade and new approaches to portraiture. This project is made possible with the support of the Owen Lade Estate, Devonport Regional Gallery, and Luke Wagner.
