Catching a Mirage marked a return to works on paper for artist Fernando do Compo. The exhibition investigated the dichotomy between the limitation and limitlessness of pictorial space to hold visual information. The works were made by recycling residual tape and other materials left over from the studio. The cut-outs and collages are taken from previous paintings on paper and are reconstituted into other works. Their installation as a group exhibition discusses and addresses a process of editing excessive information while at the same time recycling patterns and colours that would otherwise be lost.
