THE LITTLE GALLERY PROJECT SPACE
Exhibition Dates: 18 July – 30 August 2015
The Big Pink is an installation based on Lougher’s journey through outback South Australia in 2013. Through figurative compositions and collages of images, the exhibition unearths the distinct culture, connections, and environment of regional outback Australia.
“The opal mining town of Coober Pedy, with its ‘dugouts’ is an important region to Aboriginal people as well as pioneering Europeans. Oodnadatta, once enlivened by the old Ghan railway, now exists with a heritage museum and The Pink Roadhouse as its hub for community, and visitors passing through. By sharing this work, my aim is to promote communication about place; a site, personified by its natural beauty, and the people who inhabit it.” – Donna Lougher
