The paranaple arts centre welcome back the Portal exhibition, a community project with a 10-year history in the North West of Tasmania.
Since 2013, people in the North West have been invited to share a moment from their day on a Capture Day that has varied over time and has connected people through shared ideas and experiences.
For 10 years, Portal has brought together fleeting moments on a specific day and reflected how we find ourselves mirrored in one another’s narratives.
This year’s capture day fell on the Spring Equinox when day and night are near equal length and daylight begins to overtake darkness.
The exhibition is a window into dawns and sunsets, time with animals big and small, days outside and indoors, moments alone and in community.

PORTAL enters us into the many moments that make up our lives on the North West Coast of Tasmania and you’re invited to take part in this special community photography project by sharing a photograph from our 2023 Capture Day:
Saturday 23 September 2023
Take a photograph on the Spring equinox, the day the Sun crosses the equator heading south.
Photographs will be included in a public exhibition at the Devonport Regional Gallery.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
> Step 1: REGISTER FOR A REMINDER by Thursday 21 September 2023.
Email us at artgallery@devonport.tas.gov.au. Let us know your name, number and email and that
you are registering to participate in Portal 2023.
> Step 2: CAPTURE AN IMAGE on Saturday 23 September 2023.
Photograph a moment that captures life on the coast in spring on our capture day.
> Step 3: SUBMIT & SHARE by Monday 9 October 2023.
Send your photograph to artgallery@devonport.tas.gov.au
Please include your full name, contact information and details about your photo
(e.g.time, location, subject, and the story behind the photo).
> Step 4: GO SEE THE EXHIBITION between 27 October and 25 November 2023.
