CALL OUT: Waterfront Park Public Art Commission EOI

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – PUBLIC ART COMMISSION FOR WATERFRONT PARK

> EOI Document

Devonport City Council is pleased to release this Expression of Interest (EOI) to support the commissioning of a new public artwork for our City.

Council wishes to engage suitably experienced artists, with demonstrated community engagement practice, to collaborate with Council’s Public Art Committee and the City of Devonport Lions Club on the creation and delivery of public artwork, to be located within the recently completed Waterfront Park precinct.

Following 62 years of service, the City of Devonport Lions Club held its last meeting on the 24 June 2021. As a part of the Club’s cessation of ongoing activities, they generously donated $50,000 to the Devonport City Council to be kept in trust for the:

“ …future beautification, memorial, or feature in the Waterfront Precinct, to acknowledge the significant contribution the club and all its members have made to Devonport over the years …”

Council is seeking to commission an artwork that acknowledges the Club’s intended purpose, and more broadly celebrates the benefits, outcomes, and cultural value that community volunteerism plays in defining our unique identify as a city and community.
